NH FLOOD PHOTOS

These are photos taken from our local newspaper. I have similar photos taken by my daughter but haven't scanned them yet. Descriptions are below the photos:

This should say "Mammoth Road", and this is the road I live on. In fact, if I were to go down my 450ft driveway (steep downhill) and turn right, this is what I would see. My daughter has more pictures of this and that Gazebo is now almost completely submerged and many of the trees are gone. This is the same "little" brook my dogs like to play in on hot days. They come back with just the lower half of their legs muddy and wet...when there isn't flooding.

The Merrimack River at Arms Park
I used to work in this area. The steps up to the Park are completely under water. My co-workers and I used to go down those steps and sit along the river's edge to eat our lunch.

The Merrimack River and Mills
I used to work in one of those Mill buildings and also in one of the high-rises in the background. That's a construction bridge that is destroyed (they've been working on expanding the larger bridge). The Merrimack is the largest river in NH, so it has and will cause the most damage, eventually in Northeastern Massachusetts as it flows through there before exiting to the Atlantic.

Salem, NH. The next town over from us.

Over 600 Roads were closed throughout the State. This is an example of one of them. Some are worse than this. My In-Laws live in one of the most highly affected areas of the state (Goffstown). A dump truck passed right in front of their house and the road collapsed just as it went by. The hole in the rode measures about 12ft (3.66 meters) x 20ft (6.10 meters) and is 8ft (2.44 meters) deep!

My husband, Mike, works as a Call-In Firefighter/EMT here in Londonderry. This is his friend, Tony, during a dramatic rescue of a 13-year-old boy right here in Londonderry. In fact, I used to live in the Condo complex where this brook is! This 'un-named brook', is normally nothing more than a gurgling stream that wouldn't even cover your feet if you walked across it. My sons played in it all the time. I remember because their sneakers stunk so bad when they played in the brook. I could always tell when they went there after I told them not to because of that smell. LOL Anyway...from gurgling brook to this!! I'm stunned.

Another shot of the same rescue. The boy is fine after being checked for hypothermia.

That's what I have so far. There are many, many more photos from all over the area.

Now that the worse is over for us here in Londonderry, I'd like to share this link with you. It is SO appropriate for us at this time and one of my personal favorites:
